My View on The Magic

It’s easy for me to keep the magic alive. I find my enjoyment with this company through the enjoyment that I can bring to others. But for some full time cast members, after years of laboring with the company, management offers them something more. As a college program participant, most of us love being here just for the benefits. We are here because it “looks cool” on a resume or because it is a school requirement. But for full time permanent cast members, this is their life. They need an employer who can offer them lifetime advantages that other employers cannot. For example, excellent medical benefits, perks for family and friends, and post-retirement benefits. But it all starts with the company itself. They must hire cast members who are looking for a career and not just a job. From reading through Self and Dewald’s article “Why do employees stay” it is a near mirrored example of Disney’s casting. Part of hiring career cast members is giving them a detailed job description on their responsibilities, opportunities, and advantages for their hired position. But in giving a accurate job description, it needs to be a complete job description. If the hired position requires long periods of staying in on place, it needs to state that clearly. Overall, I believe that Disney keeps the magic with their permanent cast members from the moment they were first hired. They do this by keeping them informed, giving them constant opportunities and perks such as exclusive backstage tours, international discounts, and the chance for making memories with anyone and everyone they meet whether it be an everyday guest, an everyday cast members, or a lifetime friend.

  1. Great photo, how did you get some of image in “crayon” while the rest is in its original state? I love it.

Your interpretation of the workforce at Disney is accurate. There are distinct differences in Disney’s employee base and yet each castmember must work toward the same goal of guest satisfaction. It is not easy to do this but each manager must work on in a manner that will benefit the diversity that they are surrounded with. In addition, the organization must support the leadership. Therefore, though I believe motivation comes from with in ones self, I also believe that the individual must be supported by their belief in the organization they work for.
