Journal # 7

This week started full of surprises. On Monday, I received a chocolate and a fanatic card from the Director of the Housekeeping Department at Pop Century Resort for having one of the highest grades during the Quality evaluation of my rooms. It feels great to be recognized for doing a good job. After all, recognition is one of the best ways of keeping your employees happy and motivated. Begin a housekeeper is a hard work, but the satisfaction of being able to accomplish our job on time with a good quality and efficiency is the best feeling with have at the end of the day. At this point, I am really proud of myself. I never thought I would be capable enough of doing eighteen rooms in such a small amount of time with efficiency, but I am definitely doing my best as I always do.

Besides that, I few weeks ago I also applied to extend my program until August, and I just got the confirmation of my extension in which I was offer to be working in Quick- service Food and Beverage. I am extremely happy because I always wanted to work in food and beverage and learn about it since that is the career path that I want to follow into the hospitality management field. However, I cannot deny that I have enjoyed working in the resort operation field. So far, it has been the best experience I could ever have in my life. I have learned a lot about this field, its organization and forms of operation, which are the key part to understand the field in order to deliver and create the best experience to our guests. I still have not accept the offer because I need to consult it with Prof. Goodlad first, and see what she thinks about it, but I am glad I could be able to change role since it is really hard to do it. Meanwhile, I am going to continue doing and giving the best of me at my work place, delivering with a positive attitude and efficiency the best of work I can perform.
