” Examples of his work would be his history of being an attorney and later following his brother’s footsteps and becoming a president. He deserves to be memorialized because he was an activist, often called a carpetbagger.”

Although this isn’t my first time encountering this word I still don’t fully know the definition. This time I encountered the word while reading a fellow college post on part one of the second project. I think it’s important to know what this word means because it can be a person who can have a huge impact not only in the U.S but the entire world. Not to be confused with the adjective version of there word there are 2 definitions or the word activist. There’s an adjective definition which is campaigning to bring about political or social change. In this context the word was used to describe a person. Understanding a word means knowing the different ways it can be used. An example of how it an be used as an adjective would be, “activists groups around the world are coming together to organize certain events.” After learning the definition I understand that my colleague was using the noun version of the word and not the adjective.
