I encountered the word in the Readings from Steinburg, Saul. In the first paragraph from An Architect-on-paper, in the following sentence ” Though first racial politics and then personal disinclination kept him from practicing his profession, he remained an architect-on-paper.” I understand because the lack of interest in work can stop the desire for something like a different point of view can distract the mind for the other thoughts or progress needed to work on something.
