In the Spotlight: More OpenLabs!

We were so inspired by a recent conversation between Reclaim Hosting’s Taylor Jadin and Amanda Schmidt and OpenLab at University of New Haven’s Mary Isbell. They talk about getting University Of New Haven’s OpenLab started, supporting members, and letting student work shine.

The OpenLab started here at City Tech, and was created by City Tech faculty, students, staff, and alumni. Several years ago, we spotlighted Commons in a Box OpenLab, explaining how the OpenLab partnered with the CUNY Academic Commons to launch Commons in a Box OpenLab, making it possible for anyone to have an OpenLab. The project was inspired by all the people asking how they could have an OpenLab, too. It’s incredible to think that the work we do at City Tech has inspired–and continues to inspire–OpenLabs in other places!

We love collaborating with other OpenLabs on everything from development to design, outreach to support, pedagogy to community building. Want to see more OpenLabs? Check out these below:

CUNY’s School of Professional Studies recently launched the SPS OpenLab as a space to support student connections and collaborations. We’re excited to see their OpenLab grow!
