Wiki_ Homework 5

We all know of wikipedia but then again this article Charms of wikipedia was very interesting. Nicholas Baker went through some negative and positive points in using this website. It all depends in the way we could use and in my opinion I would rather use wikipedia for random search which has nothing to with my school research, because after reading this article I could tell vandalism has existed for a while. Which does not give me the confidence to use the information posted in wikipedia, but browsing wikipedia with the many topics this web page has, may be interesting and fun to see. Knowing there are different editors with bits of knowledge in Bakers term ” it’s like some vast aerial city wiht people walking briskly to and for on catwalks, carrying picnic baskets full of nutritious snacks.” Full of controversies, opinion, ideas and bits of knowledge.

Young Publishers_ Homework 3

We all may agree that technology is advancing and increasing in its daily public users. There has been changes in the way we look for information in the world wide web and sharing thoughts, pictures, applications, home made videos, news etc. From reading this chapter of pavlik I can prove what technology can help do, in where  not only do professional writers can publish, but also any individual who wishes to do so. Websites like youtube or facebook can be an example of public (non professional) use to publish anything they desire to share. http://youtu.be/q8K5UGSFW40 Magazines or newspapers publishers make sure that their print productions can also be found in the web for online users to keep reading and at the same time giving them the bonus exclusive content. Demonstrating that they are not going to be left behind by this advancing technology.

Homework_2 Improved Technology

The media of public communications, such as news media which we know of, have often “interwined” as the author Pavlik described, with new technology startegies throughout time. While reading Media in the Digital Age I have learned about the early use of daguerreotype, which gave the newspaper media the quality of storytelling in including photo images. Next the use of technology to reach out the audience with daily news, through the radio and television. Pavlik stated that journalists and other media leaders should utilize technology more in order to keep news in particular existing. Agreeing to his writing keeping up with new and continuously technology, we can all keep informed by daily updates that we are surrounded by. There are a whole new technology resources such as blogging, internet, mobile devices, gps, tablets and so on. As the two videos assigned to watch, it supported the idea that technology has made our time easier for many things including the communication between others in search of information. Proving that technology could be used for positive outcomes.

Chapter 1 (homework 1)

After reading chapter one I’ve come to find we as a nation need to learn how to communicate better. Yeah we spend all of our time chatting on Facebook, acting all cool on Twitter, and even texting our friends but what happened to the simple way of just getting out of the house and experiencing our stories verbally and in person. In the chapter he mentioned that back in the day only source of communication was through talking to one another and passing each story down.

I do have to agree about how we pass information which is completely better then how it used to be. A person that can easily access a computer can get any piece of information just by typing it in on Google. As soon as something cool, interesting, informative, or something completely stupid is quickly uploaded to a computer and spread around quickly.

I believe that our communication should be handled differently, but our way to spread information has improved since the Printing Press and should continue to improve so that our information is accessed even easier then it is today
