Today we discussed copyright and fair use, and briefly revisited open access.
Starting next week we move from our discussion of issues in information and media to a discussion of the organization of information and media. We’ll start with a discussion of metadata. For Monday, October 15, please read the following chapter and two articles:

Your blogging assignment is one 100-word comment on a classmate’s blog post or 2 comments on 2 different posts totaling at least 100 words.
Be sure to bring the Developing a Research Topic worksheets with you to class; we’ll make time to work on them further in class. Please get in touch if you want to discuss your research topic proposal. Proposals are due 2 weeks from today at the beginning of class.
