I tried to use the light coming through the windows since it was foggy outside the light was diffused and kind of soft, also I tried to get a reflection by putting some water on the window frame but it didn’t work, I guess the surface has to be darker to get a better reflection.

These sets of photos I use the natural light coming from the window. It was a blue dim cloudy light. I tried to reflect my partner to the window too. I tried to also create a moody scene in the classroom. Having my partner sit between two lights from the ceiling making the light shine on his cheekbones and his center face in shadow.

For these photos of my partner, I kept the apertures and the shutter speed the same for both of these photos. But I was focused more on the lighting coming from the window. For the first picture, I made my partner just looking out from the window where the light hits his face. In the second picture while my partner looking on his phone I just randomly took this picture without him noticing me taking this picture. But i was focusing on the lighting where the light was hitting on the side of his face. I was trying to capture my partner’s tattoo in this shot but I failed.

During my first session back into photography class, I was able to capture my partner in two different lightnings. The first picture I was able to capture her pointing the camera from her shoes to her face, I have a lot of head room but the lights hit her right on top of her head. The second picture I had my partner look at her phone while the light hits her just a bit on the top of her hair.

For this learning session, I was focusing on how I can use lighting for my photos. I try to give each photo a different outcome based on the lights. The first photo focus more on the subjects face giving her some definition and clear view of her face. The second photo I had the subject from the opposite side of the light to give shadow and highlight on her face. Lastly, the third photo was from above giving the wall a clear backdrop for the subject the stand out a bit.

Taking these shots and making sure the lighting was good was a step to editing and making them more better. By setting the ISO and Aperture to the right light to capture how I wanted the lighting to show in these both shots. In the first one I wanted the background to catch the attention as sets the difference between the light and darks. The second picture I shot was to focus the lighting from above and bring it down to his face; since the different lightings had different ISO’s the second one had a little lower setting than the first.

For this these shots we went in the stairway because to use it had the best lighting . like every where else we didn’t like it that much. I had to adjust the aperture and shutter speed and the iso because it was coming out to dark. I use 30 aperture , 5.6 shutter speed and 32000 for the iso so that I could have a better lighting.

Learning log #1 – Anthony Murillo-Rivera

after getting back into photography after four years, it was hard to jump back into photography. this first photo session I had to relearn how to use lighting and what was the best way to get interesting shots in an enclosed space. for these two shots I cranked up the ISO and lowered the F-Stop to get as much light as possible, as the light in the stairway was fairly dim. for these two shots we shot in the stairway as we were finding an issue finding singular light throughout the building. to finalize these images I lowered the temperature to gain a cooler tone as the original photo was very warm. the reason for lowering the temperature of this photo is that I wanted the pink in her sweater to pop out again the surrounding grays.
