Grand Central Station and The Oyster Bar

Grand Central is the biggest train terminal and has shops, markets, and the landmark oyster bar.The terminal was a product of local politics, bold architecture, brutal flexing of corporate muscle and visionary engineering.

Brooklyn Bridge Park Reflection

During the visit to the Brooklyn Bridge park, I was not expecting to listen to all the history of that area. For example, slavery could’ve possibly occur there, bringing on goods to the city. What impressed me the most was that the A train passes right underneath the waterfall of Brooklyn. After walking around the waterfall, we went to the “Brooklyn Roast Company” where we learned more about coffee and how the owner build his way up to where he is now. He mentioned how if he didn’t tale the opportunity offered to him, he wouldn’t be in the place he is in today. It was a really chilly day but we made it through.

BBP, Site Visit

It was a cold day but a productive one. One thing that was important to me on this day was that Ambar came on the site visit with us. A senior’s perspective is often different than that of new students, neither one better than the other, just different.

I also appreciated the contributions made by so many students. Learning about art, food, history and more along the waterfront can lead to increased tourism and for us that means jobs and opportunity.

Finally, the stop at Brooklyn Roasting was important. Without local business owners opportunites for tourism are limited. They have changed with the waterfront and I suspect they will change even more.

36 Hours in Aarhus, Denmark

Aarhus, Denmark is a town with scholars and colleges in the area, but it becoming a place for good eats and craft beer. I would visit Aarhus just for the experience and lots of craft beer. the many different brews are one of a kind. There are street fairs, flee markets and beer festivals to pass time.

Did you feel prepared for what you experience during the site visit?

No I did not feel prepared because I did not know what to expect from it so trying to be prepared was going to be difficult because I had no idea what the hotel visit will be like.

What did you learn?

I learned that the hotel industry is like one body. There are many different parts to a body and every body part has to do their part or the body won’t function properly.  All of the departments are working together in a nice flow to keep the hotel running properly.
