A Field Trip Report (UFT-Print Shop)
For the trip, we went to the UFT, Print Shop in 52 Broadway, NY. As we know, the United Federation of Teachers (UFT) is the labor union that represents most teachers in New York City public schools. In addition, it represents approximately 185,000 members, is the sole bargaining agent for most of the non-supervisory educators who work in the New York City public schools. UFT also represents approximately 75,000 teachers and 19,000 classroom paraprofessionals, along with school secretaries, attendance teachers, guidance counselors, psychologists, social workers, adult education teachers, administrative law judges, nurses, laboratory technicians, speech therapists, and 64,000 retired members.
For the first printer we saw is the “Epson Stylus Pro 9800 Extra Wide Printer 44″, it sets new standards in the world of large format printing of photos, artistic prints, and proofing. In addition, the UltraChrome K3 ink sets and Epson Micro Piezo™ which printhead technology is able to produce very precise skin-tones together with the finest details.
The second printer we saw is the “KIP C7800” printer, it’s a high-speed, high-quality color and B&W production print system for wide-format applications that demand the highest levels of quality, speed, and cost-efficiency. Ideal for a comprehensive range of technical and production needs, the KIP C7800 providing powerful print control capabilities and versatile production advantages, including a wide range of print submission methods, cloud-based printing, scan and copy, variable data printing and fully integrated stacking and folding. In addition, it’s a game-changing wide-format color printer for everything from architectural, engineering and construction plans to maps, posters, and signs. With speed, accuracy, scan and copy functions and fully integrated stacking and folding.
Compare the first printer “Epson Stylus Pro 9800” and the second printer “KIP C7800”, they both are very good for print. But the first printer which the one looks very long is better because as you close to see the works, it’s more details and it still looks good. For the second printer which the wide one, it’s for long distance to see the productions or works. So it might not good compare to the first one.
The last one we saw is my favorite printer “AnaJet MP10i mPower DTG Apparel Printer”. The mp10i model represents a significant step up in durability and performance over the popular original mPower. In addition, that AnaJet printers are widely regarded as the garment decoration industry’s benchmark for faithfully reproducing full-color digital images onto t-shirts, canvas bags, and other products. In addition, all mPower digital apparel printers print full-color digital images with resolutions ranging up to 1200 dpi. All mPower i-series printers boast many key improvements, including improved ink flow during printing, less ink consumption, and waste, especially during maintenance routines, more durable valves, pumps and print head maintenance components, and firmware and AnaRIP software enhancements for greater efficiency and ease of use. Finally, MP10i printer is a very good and cool printer, and it’s so convenient for us to use it.
In conclusion, these were so important for us to know because there is a big competition between us, so we always compare to the competitors or others. As a designer, we must need to know more or experience more in order to find the job in the real life because time is money. The companies always want to hire the best employee who can save their money and times. Finally, we should learn that knowledge in order to have a better life.
