The Lottery, written by Shirley Jackson seems to be some kind of game involving winning numbers, basically being the early stages of the game, before how it becomes today. It seems to be a game that almost everyone in the town gather for. It’s a special tradition that’s been happening for a number of years in a village at around ten o’clock between the bank and post office. The villagers each pick of a piece of paper and no one looks at their number until the number is revealed.
