There was something powerful about this week’s reading on The Medium is the Message, as it helped me to understand both the new media technology and the societal norms that have made us used to split and create divisions within everything we do. This week’s reading reminded me that, in functional and practical terms, the medium is the message. In the end, all forms of media, that is, any communication through which we expand our reach will affect us personally and socially due to the new dimensions introduced into our affairs by any extension of ourselves, regardless of what technology we employ. There is a great example in this reading which gets at the point of a lot of people saying that what makes a machine meaningful or insightful is not its form, but what one does with it.  Texting, talking, sharing, face time is among the ways humans make use of technology to extend their communication. It is imperative to know how to work with each medium. Understand what communication norms apply to online mediums. You should respond to emails you receive and acknowledge them if they’re from others. Whenever you send a formal communication, avoid chat language. You should usually message people first to find out a good time to call them. Among the foremost people to learn from when it comes to understanding these various media is McLuhan. His views on what he describes as human extension were very interesting. I found the reading most interesting as it discussed the experience of sharing people’s tastes and lifestyles among the media on an individual and social level. This was thanks to the additional aspects introduced to our affairs by the technological advances of today.

The defragmentation technique of machine technology has altered people’s work and associations. Contrary to popular belief, automation does not require reorganization. The human relationships it patterns are integral and decentralist in-depth, just as the human relationships they patterns are fragmentary, centralist, and superficial. As a result, automation creates roles for people, which means that they can deal more closely with their work and human relationships than they did with our previous mechanical technology.  Many different forms of media are used by creatives to create their work. Designers can’t foresee the impact of new media on their work. The art of communication has been used throughout history by people to communicate without words. Artists have the talent to express powerful feelings.

As designers and artists, we can create new messages by using design, which is the opposite of that. We learn to be better designers from our colleagues by assisting and supporting one another. designers are supposed to create relationships between viewers and visuals. designers consider the message they want to communicate and how to strategize engagement with the viewer before they determine how visuals should look.  The first thing that will catch a viewer’s attention is the visual element that will catch their eyes, followed by the associations that audience members make and the psychology behind how the design affects a viewer’s mood. As designers, we create designs that communicate messages faster than words but also compellingly and clearly. The creative process behind an abstract painting can be directly reflected in computer designs, as McLuhan points out. As the designs or patterns multiply or accelerate existing processes, focus on psychic and social effects.
