Perspectives in Hospitality

As someone that was raised in this always evolving neighborhood I always find new things to do with others. I’ve gone on multiple outings with friends, family, and significant others and always find something new to do or a new place to explore.

9:00: After waking up one can gear up with their workout outfit and take a jog to astoria park were they have a track field for runners to do a morning jog. Alongside the track they have various items to help with once workout. If a work out isn’t once cup of tea walking along the park in the morning is beautiful especially during the fall and spring when the leaves are either falling or flowers are blooming.

11:00: After going back to your home or hotel and getting ready head out to Lite bites diner at 31-91 Steinway St. and order yourself a yummy breakfast or brunch dish. My personal favorite is the neapolitan sandwich with curly fries and a tropical delight smoothie. Go alone with a good book or with a loved one for a good way to start the day.

1:00: After going to eat your going to want to walk because you’ll be stuffed and in that case you should go shopping in Northern Blvd. If you want to take public transportation, you should take the Q66 and get off at Northern Blvd. in front of Old Navy or get on the R or M and get off again at Northern. You can also walk there, it will only be a 15-20 minute walk. There you’ll find shops like Marshalls, Old Navy and Michaels and you can keep finding shops the more you walk back to Steinway like Foot Locker, Baby Blue, Moe’s and much more.

3:00: Around this time most of the kids from the area will be leaving school and if you want to be inside to avoid the crowds but don’t quite want to go home start heading to the Museum of Moving Image located  at 36-01 35 Ave, Astoria. Admission for adults is 15 but will vary depending age and occupation. While there you’ll find props used in infamous movies such as the exorcist, sex in the city and other movies. Your able to touch some exhibits and can create your own films and see how the effects to movies are done.

5:00: After watching how movies are made you might want to watch a movie yourself. A block away from this museum you’ll find UA Kaufman Astoria Stadium a theater with the latest movies and comfortable seating. If you have time before the movie starts I recommend playing in the small arcade they have and ordering some nachos. But let’s be honest movie theater food can get pricey so I recommend sneaking in snacks from the corner deli.

8:00: After the amazing movie you just watched you might be ready to munch on some delicious food. For me you can never go wrong with some juicy burgers. My number one spot for burgers is Bareburger in 33-21 31st Ave, Queens. The burgers there will never disappoint, usually get a classic cheeseburger with fries and a banana foster milkshake. If your above the age of 21 you can enjoy a beer or two from the bar and interact with new people or talk more to your date.

10:00 Around this time you’ll start walking home after a long eventful day.

10:00 A.M Today you will sleep in a little more than you did yesterday but when you wake up and get ready your ready to go out for breakfast with your family. You should go to Sanfords 30-13 Broadway, Astoria. This restaurant is named one of the top places to eat in multiple sites such as yelp and grubhub. You can easily order a breakfast platter and find yourself stuffed.

12:00: After having to deal with your family’s chaos for an hour you might need a little break by yourself and will find yourself in a bookstore called “Astoria Bookshop” in 31-29 31st St, Astoria. There they host book clubs and interesting events to help intrigue into the world of literature. You can ask the employee working that day what book they recommend or if you want to keep to yourself you can always read the blurbs and little notes they put around the room of different books.

2:00: After buying one or several books you should reunite with your family and go to Astoria Bowl located at 19-45 49th St, Queens and can choose the amount of games or rent a lane for two hours which is the option you’ll op for. There you can eat wings or fries if you wish and can even play in the arcade they have in the alley.

4:00: For good pizza for a low price you’ll head to Napoli Pizza where they have the best pizza in the neighborhood located at 33-02 35th Ave, Astoria. There you can order a whole pie or do what my family does. Order individual food and take from each other to taste as much food as we can. Even though you have ordered plates your bill will surprise you by how good the deal is.

6:00 After stuffing your face with pasta and pizza you should go where these two days started. Heading back to Astoria Park you should go and watch the sunset while talking to your family or friends take a lot of pictures.\

8:00 The sun is down and you have completed 36 hours in Astoria to celebrate get an ice cream from one of the ice cream trucks you will always come across.
