This week was a difficult week for me because they changed me to the night shift.  The managers said the CP is supposed to learn everything in the morning and night shifts in order to gain comprehensive internship experience.

This week was my training week for the night shift.  I trained as a runner and turn down.  It was hard for me because I already got used to it in the morning shift.  I got used to wake up at six in the morning every day.  However, I had to stay awake until 2:30 AM.  Once I got home, it’s around 4AM already.  Moreover, the buses were always late for half hour at night.  However, the night shift has much less duty than the morning shift.  The reason for that is there’s no full board to clear at night shift.  And there’s a full hour for my dinner.  I never have a chance to take lunch when I was doing the morning shift.  The manager in the night shift was really nice to me.  Everything seemed much better the morning shift except the time was really late when I got off from work.  I would love to learn everything about housekeeping, but I just didn’t like the time shift.  Now I had to get used to the night shift again.  It should take a while to do that because I was not a night person.

I didn’t recognize that we had to do everything at the night shift.  There’s a woman got drunk on Tuesday night, and she didn’t have her key to open the door.  And we had to deal with this situation and take care of her.  Basically night shift means you have to take care of everything about housekeeping.  No matter you were a runner or a housekeeper.

I have to say that I always noticed a difference in the night shift stuff than the day time. Night shift employees are willing to go the extra mile for you. I remember when my family and I were doing a road trip and we were reaching late in the night because of some heavy rain. When we got the room there were extra towel and the room was warm. And the bell guy help us carry our luggage and they also found parking for us. My mom even wrote to corporate and thanked them so much. It may be the little things that you and your staff do that make us the feel happy and like we are at home.

As for the night shift, you body is going to get used to it. How it is now with your classes?

My classes are not bad, but just too early for me to go to classes now since I am getting used to the night shift.
