Read and React 2

Accidences are happening in every filed in the world and they are unpredictable.  As a housekeeper, we do have training to keep the safety for the guests.  For example, we have to put the purple card in front of the doors once we get into their rooms.  Also, we have to keep the doors close all the time.  If the guests forget their key, they have to call the front desk in order to open the door.  We are not allowed to open the doors for them.  That’s the basic safety for the guests’ properties.  Even though we are cleaning the room, and just getting amenities from the cart, we still have to close the door.  After we finish the room, we have to double check if the door is closed.

According to the article “The Storms of Summer”, it’s true that we have to make some plans for disasters because we cannot predict them but we can plan ahead for the disasters.  Therefore, even though it comes across, we still have some ideas to deal with the situation.  In our resorts, I never deal with a “disaster” so far.  However, we do have some issues to deal with raining.  It rains a lot in Florida.  Fortunately, our resorts are not like the other resorts such as “Pop Century” that the rooms are in outside.  And even if it’s raining, the guests can still be protected.  Furthermore, since our resorts have the gym rooms and the marketplace store, guests can go to those places for relax and have a cup of coffee.  Moreover, we have the great view of the lake outside of the lobby.  Therefore, guests can enjoy the view from the lobby or in their rooms if it’s raining.

We cannot predict any natural or manmade disaster.  However, managers should always plan ahead for those situations.  Once it comes, guests and employees won’t feel in tearing hurry.  There’s no hundred percent predictable in the world, but there’s hundred percent of prevention you could do by yourself.

    Managers should always have a back plan when it rains. I see that there are ways to keep the guest occupied indoors than outdoors where I am. I did not know that they rooms have to be closed while you are cleaning it. I have been to numerous hotels and see housekeeping have the doors wide open while they are cleaning the rooms.
