Traditions is a tool Disney uses to ensure that all its employees feel welcome and understand what it is that they as a company are all about. In the beginning we watch a video in which Bob Igor the President of Disney introduces himself to us making us feel more at home and giving us an idea of what the company is all about. After the video we then break up into groups and get to see first hand what making the magic is all about. Walking into magic kingdom and seeing the castle brought me back to my childhood and made me think of what it felt like to see it for the first time as a child which is what the tour was all about. The idea was for us to experience the magic from the guest point of view and the tour did that. Then as we walked through the park and I noticed the smiles that were on both the guest and the cast members in magic kingdom I understood what it was all about. The company HVS Hotel Management has a similar approach when it comes to its new hires. In order to ensure the same results they play a video to its new hires to give them an idea of what the Hotel is about and then by giving them the opportunity to spend the night at the hotel the employee gets to experience first hand what a guest experiences while staying at the hotel. It personalizes the experience for them so that they understand what a guest expects not just by hearing someone telling them but by what they would expect to experience if they were the guest. This kind of approach is very important in the success of any company because as workers a lot of times we forget what it feels like to be on the other side and this gives the employee a better understanding why it is so important to do your job as great as you can or in Disney keeping the magic alive.
