Experiential learning has to be one of the most inspiring and valuable classes that I have ever taken in my educational career. It didnt just make me learn about how information is diagnosed from a business standpoint but it made me understand about myself and the process in which I take in new information as an individual. A great concept that was taught to us was the model of learning in which we all took an online survey and the results that came back depicted our individual learning style. It was called the kolb learning style inventory 4.0. The possible learning styles were acting, analyzing, balancing, expeiencing, reflecting, initiating, imagining, thinking and the deciding learning style.

I found great use in knowing that I possess qualities that pertain me to be an active learner. Some of these qualities are being goal oriented, good at implementing plans, excel in identifying and integrating task and human requirements, and work at improving existing operations and systems and producing results. The last one fits me well because one of my long term goals is to manage a pre existing, well known hotel or resort as opposed to starting one up from the very beginnings. So as a student and an employee, this class has given me confidence when it comes to recognizing my weak and strong points, and how I can adjust my weaknesses to compliment my strengths. It would not have been possible without such an extraordinary teacher. Debi Immel is one of the most kindest and caring individuals that I have ever met.

I’m glad you had a great time with your Experiential Learning class! I agree, it’s important to find out each of our weaknesses and strengths, so that we can constantly find ways to improve ourselves for the better in the future. It can help us in so many ways in life just by understanding more about ourselves. By becoming more experience with understanding ourselves, we can also somehow start to understand others, therefore, becoming a good manager. It can be helpful to us in so many ways possible. Your results are really good, and I’m sure you’ll be a very successful manager for a hotel/resort in the future with qualities you currently possess!
I was just wondering if it would be possible for you to provide us a link to the survey so that others can take this survey too and hopefully it can help each one of us understand more about ourselves too!

I too had experiential Learning, and I love it. I find myself thinking about how im learning and how my leanring style allows me to pursue doing it. I would have never known how I look at things differently or similar compared to the next person. Congrats on completing your course. 🙂
