Safety #1 On The WDW list!

As I read the article by Barbara A. Higgins  I realized what she mentioned throughout the whole article is something that I was taught during the 6 days of training. During training our trainers explained to us how safety is the number one priority in the park . It is very important to have our guests and cast members safe no matter what type of situation it is, weather is man made or a natural disaster. In Animal Kingdom and I am not sure if in the other parks backstage they have the same thing. We have what its called ROUTE A, ROUTE B AND ROUTE C .  These Routes explain how the guests should be evacuated from the park if in case of any emergency . Each ROUTE with the letters on it has different colors and a different sign. ROUTE A is a regular exit of a park if in case of any emergency , ROUTE B will be evacuating the guest’s through the back stage of the park  and ROUTE C is sheltering the cast members and guests if in case of an extreme situation.  If in case any emergency situation occurs we as a cast member we should remain calm and make sure the guest feels comfortable and make sure everything is well . We also have to be safe with ourselves and make sure we are not putting ourselves in danger and we know how to handle a situation.

If its not a big emergency or anything too serious , we would re-open the park and assure our guests that everything is okay and recompense them and make sure they have a magical time by the end of the day. While training at Animal Kingdom they really did go into deep detail of emergency sitations and how to make our guests comfortable. This will help me personally and as a professional level later on in life becuase it has taught me how important safety is to everyone and not only for yourself. Having a emergency plan is very important and handy.

Wow, after reading your post, I can see how much effort the team from Animal Kingdom put into safety. I agree, safety is Disney’s number one priority, so they would always have some kind of plans in case any kind of emergency comes up. They are very well prepared for their future and protection for both their staffs and guests.
I liked the idea how they have Routes A, B, and C. With a large crowd of people in animal kingdom, it’s always helpful to have multiple routes because if it was just one route, it would just be chaotic with everyone forcing through and pushing others, which could prove to be dangerous too. Also, the idea how each route has a different purpose is also very helpful in case of emergencies.
