    Know
I know that procrastination isn’t healthy

    I know procrastination causes laziness
I know procrastination is never good and if not solved when young, it can impact the individual negatively in his / her future

Should you ever procrastinate? Is it good?
    When is it bad?
What age group procrastinates the most?

    Learned
I learned that people often delay a task that is challenging at first. Fear gets put into their head thinking that they won’t do good at first. When this thought comes to ones head, the person could start to feel anxious or even guilty. This could cause the person to not start/complete the task even more.
I also learned that ages 14 – 29 procrastinate the most. Men procrastinate more than women
    When is procrastination bad?
I learned that once you overcome procrastination, you could reach your highest potential.

Reading “America Never Wanted The Tired, Poor, Huddled Masses” was interesting. I enjoyed reading the article and took in a lot of new information and facts. The way immigrants would be treated and always watched strictly is disturbing to think about.

I think the intended audience for this article are those who live in America. Everything has history whether it’s an object, person or country / land. This article is good to learn how immigrants were really treated harshly regardless of having a visa.

I believe Caitlyn Dickserson published this article to show how America fails to hold their promise for being the “land of the free’’ because of their immigratioln system. Page 5 states ““To .x our broken immigration system, we must pass reforms that re/ect America’s values,”. This was stated by senator Amy Klobuchar. These ideas get passed to senators and the congress but are never successfully executed.

“America Never Wanted The Tired, Poor, Huddled Masses” is an example of a feature article because of how Caitlyn Dickerson narrates the news. She uses a story from a boy growing up in El Paso Texas, stating how his great aunt would be treated weekly when she would bathe. Caitlyn Dickerson’s article is news related by how she speaks about Joe Biden and his plan on immigrants. How he wants to provide citizenship to millions of immigrants.

The tone I felt as I read Caitlyn Dickerson’s article was firm and formal. The way she speaks about immigrants and how they are treated in America when they are promised a “better life”, you could tell she’s serious.

I like how Caitlyn Dickerson uses multiple sources as she narrates about immigrants in America. Her experiences in school when she goes out to play, the government and how they play a role, David Dorado Romo about his great aunt. She also provided history from 1900’s and earlier about the pilgrims. The plans and ideas they had when entering America.

As I read this feature article, I thought this was a good example. I learned what should be included as you write one, multiple sources not just your opinion, you should add personal experiences to show your side of the beat and that history and providing dates is important. It makes the reader more comfortable when reading because it shows that the writer knows what they’re talking about and that you’re being as accurate as possible.

I think this piece was very interesting to read because it touched on topics that are not spoken about a lot. Apart I found very interesting was when the author had shared a personal story of someone’s, in the beginning, to draw the reader in and explain the overall purpose of the essay.
I think the intended audience of this piece is the people that live in America. I believe this because the author wanted to get a point across which was to show how immigrants were treated and controlled.
I think the purpose of this text is to show that everything that was “promised” to the immigrants did not get fulfilled and immigrants had a harder experience than was promised. I think the author wrote this piece to show some awareness about all the hardships immigrants had to go through.
I think this is an example of a feature article because, in the beginning, a story was shared. Also, the text has facts with numbers, but it is not 100% all fact-based.
The author wrote this piece in a formal tone because they were discussing an important subject. The author used ethos and pathos. The author had emotion in the story they told and followed it up with statistics.
I like how Caitlyn Dickerson uses different stories and examples to prove the point she is trying to get across. I enjoyed how straightforward she was with all her points about immigrants and what they went through.
Something I learned from this feature article is how important outside research and sources can help you prove your point and make it stronger. Using a personal story and other stories can draw the reader in but also set the mood of the reading.

    What I Know:
-Not everyone has the same level of focus or concentrates the same way.

-Some may have disorders that disrupt them from concentrating.

-A lack of concentration can lead to lack of performance as the individual may struggle with keeping up.

-Concentration plays different roles in different scenarios which may lead to it serving more importance to some over others.

    What I Want to Know:
-Is there a true solution to finding a way to make an individual focus?

-An analysis as to why some may find it harder to concentrate over others.

-Can there be underlying factors such as family genetics as to why someone can’t focus?

-How has the lack of affected individuals over the course of time?

    What I Learned:

-“Being unable to concentrate can be the result of a chronic condition, including: alcohol use disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), chronic fatigue syndrome, Concussion, Cushing syndrome, Dementia ,Epilepsy ,Insomnia, major depressive disorder, mental disorders, such as schizophrenia, restless leg syndrome“ (What Makes You Unable to Concentrate?, Alana Biggers, M.D., MPH, September 6, 2019)

-Not being able to concentrate is more a serious issue than to be expected as there can be a bigger issue at hand that’s causing it.

-“Being unable to concentrate affects people differently. Some symptoms you may experience include: being unable to remember things that occurred a short time ago, difficulty sitting still, difficulty thinking clearly, frequently losing things or difficulty remembering where things are ,inability to make decisions ,inability to perform complicated tasks, lack of focus ,lacking physical or mental energy to concentrate ,making careless mistakes” (What Makes You Unable to Concentrate?, Alana Biggers, M.D., MPH, September 6, 2019)

-“Taking all this information into consideration, your doctor may be able to make a diagnosis or recommend further testing. He or she may recommend one or more of these tests: blood testing to determine hormone levels, CT scans to view brain abnormalities, electroencephalography (EEG) that measures electrical activity in the scalp” (What Makes You Unable to Concentrate?, Alana Biggers, M.D., MPH, September 6, 2019)

-“You may be able to make changes that improve your ability to concentrate if it’s lifestyle-related. Examples include: eating a balanced diet with whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and lean proteins, eating several small meals each day, getting more sleep, reducing caffeine intake, taking steps to reduce stress, such as meditating, writing in a journal, or reading a book” (What Makes You Unable to Concentrate?, Alana Biggers, M.D., MPH, September 6, 2019)

5.The tone for this is I would say very like formal language because of the things their were saying . As I read see how the immigrants treat the Americans.
6.I dislike this because I don’t like how the immigrants are treating the Americans

I believe reading ” America never wanted the tired, poor huddled masses” by Caitlin Dickerson was interesting because Dickerson gives information about immigrants that aren’t spoken about. I liked how the author began with a story to tell. As a reader you can see more behind the life of an immigrant.
I believe the intended audience for this article are anyone who has a family member in that situation or anyone living in the United States. I believe the author wanted others to view how immigrants were being treated.
I believe the purpose of this article was to demonstrate what immigrants went through. It also demonstrates how America doesn’t maintain what was “promised”. The promises that were made to the immigrants weren’t accomplished.
This article is an example of a feature article because it gives off a formal tone. It was also published on the Atlantic which has a bunch of feature articles.
I believe the tone of the article is formal. It gives information about the serious topic of immigration. The author does use ethos and pathos by telling a story at the beginning of the article.
What interested me while reading this article was the amount of new information that I learned about immigrants and how they were being treated. She started with a story to grab our attention.
What I learned from reading this feature article was what to add inside such as resources and what kinds of research to add. For example, adding multiple sources to make the reading more informative and backing up your topic.
