I think procrastination is a habit just like any other habits. What I mean is procrastination is a “learned” thing. Nobody is born a procrastinator but we become one. It roots from poor time management skills, lack of motivation, or simply choosing not to do the right thing. There are other factors (out of our control) that may lead to procrastination, however. For example, people who suffer with bad anxiety usually procrastinate, and of course if you are ill, you basically have a free procrastination card.
I believe that people who usually procrastinate, do it because they are simply good at it! If a student procrastinates but still manage to get everything done last minute, he or she may feel more confident about when next time comes around. Also, I think people who procrastinate are able to work under a lot pressure. I guess that is a good skill to have, maybe through a different scenario?
I would call myself a procrastinator, and everything that I wrote about above? I am all of those. I know I am not the only one either. Its a very common human thing to do. However, I think recognizing that procrastination has its downfalls and constantly trying to stay on top of this “bad habit” is the key to being more disciplined. I try everyday but its not that easy.
