Network Event

Last Wednesday, the Senior portfolio review was held. Not only was it an opportunity to get advice on how to improve the artwork in my portfolio, but it was also an opportunity to talk with a few professionals.

One man, Terrence Taylor is a freelance illustrator and graphic designer. He gave me advice on how to manage myself as a freelancer.

20151216_172917Since I’m focusing on being a comic artist, he told me what page compositions to create and how I would go about selling them.

Another professional I met was a man named Daniel Fishel. I don’t have a business card for him, but I took down his email because he was interested in the comic samples that I showed him.

Daniel was an entrepreneur. He did animation, graphic design, comic illustration, practically anything in the art field. He worked for himself.

My long term goal in life is to be able to work for myself. His advice was extremely helpful. He told me how to copyright and serialized my work and also how to create a web site that would allow me to put my comic online.

I didn’t know what to expect when I first arrived. All I know now is that I learned many valuable things at this portfolio and I’m more than ready to focus and improve on my work.

When I'm not slaying dragons in space, I'm probably drawing. Either that or being lazy. We'll just go with the first one though.
