The poster I chose for my paper is “New York Subway Map” by Massimo Vignelli from 1970-1972. This is the design of the subway system map in New York City. The readings that I will be using are: Our Book by El Lissitzky and Who We Are by Aleksandr Rodchenko, Varvara St epanova, and Aleksei Gan.

This sounds great Gloria. And both of the essays you’ve mentioned are very relevant. You could also think about the section titled “A Living Language” from the Bruno Munari reading. And even though its not quite about the type of information in Vignelli’s map, the essay by Ellen Lupton and J. Abbott Miller titled “Modern Hieroglyphs” could be a nice reference for thinking about universally understood communications. These are just two possible suggestions – you’re not required to include them. Seems like you have a great direction in mind for the paper.
