“Writers must learn to be their own best enemy. They must accept the criticism of others and be suspicious of it; they must accept the praise of others and be even more suspicious of it.” (Paragraph 4)
This is my favorite quote because I believe it speaks to me. I am a type of person who can’t take in criticism easily. Being writer you should always look for criticism. Especially if you a writing a first draft. I never like getting corrected for the essays I wrote in school, but it help me with better work. With this I should be my best enemy. I should accept criticism and be suspicious of it. I should be thinking about the advice people give me on my work. Same goes for getting praised; even though it is a complement, you should be more suspicious of it. Why is this person complementing my piece of work? What am I doing to make this person praise me and the work I am doing? This is something I should be doing all the time when it comes to writing.
