Throughout reading Donald M. Murray’s piece he really does explain to the reader the difference between an amateur and a pro “Most readers underestimate the amount of rewriting it usually takes to produce spontaneous reading” throughout the many of writing papers I’ve written I could tell you that many off the papers haven’t been rewritten. This quote stuck out to me because of the true meaning behind it. Many people forget the ability to produce a good piece because it truly is a skill Many writers will over look the power of revision on your writing and this is due what Murray said “When students finish a first draft they consider their work done.”

This OpenLab site accompanies Jackie Blain’s synchronous ENG 1101 course for Fall 2020. The Course Materials are here (Assignments, Resources, How-to Videos) as well as the Class Discussion blogs. We’re all about writing in multiple digital and analogue situations, for multiple purposes… and investigating and talking about issues by asking questions. Lots of questions.
To get in touch with Prof Blain, either drop me a text on our Slack channel or email me at DBlain@citytech.cuny.edu.
