Curiosity

I feel like I was interested in a thousand things when I was a kid. Pretty sure I wanted to learn or do something new every hour, but something that has stuck with me till this day is my curiosity on the human brain, a weird thing to be interested on when you are a kid but the whole thing started because my grandma has Alzheimers and I always heard the adults talking about it. I did/do ask my mom a lot about the brain and there are times that she looks at me like how am I supposed to know. So the majority of the questions I have I just look it up and try to work with whatever it is that I find on the internet.

I’m not as curious as I once was, I don’t ask a lot of questions. Yes my mom does say that I have always been a quiet person and that I keep a lot to myself. I do tend to ask my mom the weirdest questions but besides her I don’t really express my curiosity with others. Yeah the educational system has some fault when it comes to that since in school we are always told to keep our questions to ourselves, which with time you no longer want to ask more about what you are learning.

I won’t lie and say that I’ve never lost interest on the human brain because I have. When I was approximately 15 I had gone to DR and visit my grandma she didn’t remember me and I lost interest. It was more because I was upset than because I didn’t want to learn more about it. After that I didn’t really have a topic of interest that stuck with me for long. By the time I was 17 the interest on the human brain came back and it is in fact the reason as to why I want to become a neurologist.

Fascinating story! Sad but interesting. I’m always amazed at how much our childhood curiosity/things we’re curious about actually creep back into our minds when we get older, and often lead us in specific directions. Thanks for sharing this!
