In this week journey, I started my new internship. I found this internship through work study. It is a program called Public Service Corps. Through Public service corps I found a paid internship in New York citywide administrative services doing graphic designs for high end clienteles from City hall to the mayor.
So far, my typical day at my internship would be very busy and hectic. On a daily basis , I’ve been doing 3-4 projects a day! I’ve done work for the mayor for a project for Mayors office for combatting domestic violence. In this project, I had to make a book in an annual report style stating facts and statistics in comparison to previous years in how domestic violence whether relationship, family, or elderly, has risen or decreased throughout the years. Also, I have been working on a project for a company called waste management through the city for the Department of sanitation and many more projects as such.
Although I have only been there a week so far, I have learned a lot. I learned that clients are a bit unrealistic. Most clients I do projects for demand the project to be finished the same day or even the next day. What I had to learn throughout this short period of time, was that most of the time I had to work through the day without a break, or even stay longer hours. Especially when the clients were paying, or very superior and busy individuals.
