For the Spring semester of 2017, Our group focused our attention on The New York City Housing Authority’s David Glasgow Farragut Houses. After gathering information through first hand Site Visits and online research, we focused our attention on“How can an educational intervention improve the level of education in the community”?  For the first sub-topic, Stephan Marc dives into Vinegar Hill’s school rezoning and the impact it has had for the people of Farragut Houses, Vinegar Hill and DUMBO. Our second sub-topic focuses on Farragut Houses Community Center program which will provide a better understanding on how after school educational programs benefit the youth, presented by Collin Grant. After that, our third subtopic focuses on the effect that libraries have in the area and the residents which provides access to books, computers with internet access, printing and more written by Thein Moe. Lastly the fourth subtopic takes a look at  after school programs and community centers in the area and how it has improved learning ability for the people living there in Farragut which is presented by Lana Belopukhova. Our goal is to come up with a solution to Farragut’s decline in education, by providing suggestions and ways that it can be improved by bringing new facilities to the area and improving old ones.
