Introduction
How does free video games or “freemium” keep kids and adults hooked on playing their video games.
Background/Review of the Sources
Video games are made for people of all ages and some are designed to keep you hooked and engaged aways. It might not affect the majority of people but it does affect some people. Video games are everywhere, on your phones, tablets, consoles, laptops, pc, cars and soon it’ll be programed onto tv’s.
Rationale
Companies like Microsoft and Sony have worked on expanding their services to mobile you can have your games on the go. Some of these games include “freemium” games. Even though these games are free to play, they have in-app purchase, daily logins, and loot boxes. These features were created to keep you hooked, spend money, and potentially encourage gambling.
Method and Design
I will introduce the topic and go in depth on how these games work towards getting someone addicted. By the end of the presentation I will have show how these games have actually affected people, besides on spending money. So first I plan on researching how does these 3 features work towards getting you addicted to the game. Second I will look for data on how much money is usually spent on these games from 2020 to today. Lastly I will try to show infographs and what games have these features.
