Paul Rand said “You will learn most things by looking, but reading gives understanding. Reading will make you free,” beside seeing and reading an important sense is listening. Something the smallest detail slip our minds but they can be the most important once. Last week lecture reflected back on our listening skills. We realize that our mind tunes certain things out and how easy it is to be distracted. At the beginning of class, we watch a video that spoke about Paul Rand being the best, “crusty,” as good as good french bread. The video also spoke about how important is to be timeless, some examples were UPs and the ABC television channel. Also we discussed the idea is computer is just a tool for our work, as designer we should depend more on our hands and create from scratch.
The second lesson of last week class was where to look for a job and elements of a resume. Some website where to look for a job are indeed.com, simplyhired.com, craiglist.com, glassdoor.com, etc. Another website we learned about had recruiter.com. This was the first time I’ve heard of this website, their main goal is to fond us a job in our career and the company benefits too because they won’t have to give us any benefits. The last hour of the class we presented project number one describing what kind of designer am I?
