This is a very interesting topic for me because, I did not attend elementary school in America. I was born in Bangladesh where I attended school as a kid. It was very different from school over here in America. I went to the same school, in the same building from when I started school all the way until 7th grade. At the age of 12 I moved to Queens, New York with my two other siblings. My first experience of the education in America was high school. It was a very dramatic change in my life. I had a whole life, friends, family, and neighbors back in Bangladesh, and it felt like one day I just got up and left. All of a sudden I was faced with the challenges of adjusting to a new environment, people, and a completely different lifestyle. However, looking back to it, I would say I handled it all really well. I got really involved in school which helped me step out of my comfort zone. I got a lot of support from my teachers, friends, coaches and school counselors.
