The article “In Defense of the Classroom” written by Caroline Hellman, expresses how she misses her old classroom before the pandemic occurred.  She discusses the difficulties of the transition and the challenges to both instructional delivery and classroom community.  In the article, she speaks of how one of the older classrooms at City Tech was not glamorous and had worn tablet arms, a professor’s drawers full of chalk stubs, and abandoned exam blue books, shortly after she stated “And yet, the classroom housed something very valuable, something that has been lost and mourned in the transition to online instruction.” This shows how the loss of a real classroom creates more gaps between students, teachers, and other fellow students. To build a community as an online class, constant communication is very crucial. Without communication, it will be hard to understand the subject.
