In Baldwin’s documentary I Am Not Your Negro, one quote I considered interesting is that âIt is not a racial problem. It is a problem of whether or not youâre willing to look at your life and be responsible for it, and then begin to change it.â It’s an issue whether you’re prepared and accountable for your life or not and start to change it.” Baldwin attempts to tell you in this quote that your life is in your hand and how you want to live your life is in your hand. He’s claiming the issue wasn’t racial. Just because you’re black, that doesn’t mean you don’t deserve a good life. You’re meant to control your life and you’re responsible for your own goods. You need to raise your voice and fight for your rights. Fight for a decent life. Black people did not want to change their lives. They didn’t want to see their lives and see the reality. Because they just accepted the life that they had become a black man. Baldwin was trying to tell the black people to look at your life and look at the life of the white people. You are just a human being, and you just deserve a life like white people .Another quote I considered relevant in Baldwin’s film is The Negro story in America is America’s story and it’s not a nice story.” In this quote he says that the American history was made by Negro. This is a disgraceful history of racial injustice in American history. No speech, no freedom and no life for Black people. It was white people that dominated them. The white people viewed them unfairly. The tale about negro was a tragic story about blacks and how the White People used to treat them. That’s why civil rights occurred.
