Perez josh The pink 3a 3b

3A. In The Pink by Andrea long chu, we learn about Chu transition from male to female.

Chu transition from male to female was very difficult and itā€™s apparent in the story. The way Chu expresses this difficultly is through a story format. What I mean by this is Chi guides us from start to beginning to end how her journey from male to female was for her. She starts by telling us the time before her surgery and what was going through her mind beforehand. Chu states in truth I was collecting pains pinning them like insects to the corkboard of brain scribbling little labels below this part of the story stood out to me because it really gives me the idea of what the central problem is here. to me, that problem is she’s simply nervous about the transition from male to female and how people can’t seem to accept trans people. This leads me to my next point which is later on throughout the story chu explains the difficulties of her struggles when it comes to being transwomen on of my favorite lines out of the whole. The story is the very last line The Thing about vaginas is you can never get a good look at them it just shows to me the varying issues that come with being a transgender woman and it just gives you the feeling that the story isn’t resolved because till this day transgender people are suffering from discrimination and just outright disrespect. The only question the ending of the story left me with was is she finally comfortable in her own skin.

3B two scenes I would like to add to my essay one would be describing how I felt when I first entered high school and how I felt. It would start along the lines of this here I was in a lunchroom packed with unfamiliar faces almost like riding the train on a weekday afternoon I could hear noises from every direction left right up down everywhere. However no matter how many voices I could hear and how many people where around me I felt enclosed almost trapped in a room with no way out trapped and alone in the unknown world.

My next scene would be a celebration scene in which I finally got out of the unknown and made it to the known world I broke out of that dark room I felt like I was in and I was euphoric I was able to talk to people I met new friends the party just never seemed to end. I was happy colors became a lot more vibrant and life a lot more interesting everything was simply amazing.Ā

This tune makes me think and miracle all the chronicled occasions we have been experiencing on the grounds that it depicts the pandemic impeccably and it’s intriguing seeing recorded occasions while they’re occurring and remembering them thusly. I’m just in my 19 however I’ve survived a couple of significant world occasions as of now ā€“ the 2004 torrent in the Indian Ocean, various destroying storms (Katrina in 2005), the financial downturn of 2008, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, common wars in numerous nations around the globe, the ascent of worldwide psychological oppression, the wave and atomic mishap in Japan in 2011, and the Covid-19 pandemic, just to give some examples. With all the madness around us it is my expectation that we will invest more energy to adore, to live, and to light others’ lives with our positive feelings and assistance. The option is surely conceivable, and frightening.

Maram Awadh Zoom Mtg 1 Summary

Before watching the zoom recording, I was overwhelmed and lost due to the fact that I didnā€™t receive any information or emails about this class and was basically in the dark. After viewing this recording, I now understand a bit of what to do and what this class consists of. I learned a few things about OpenLab and how to use it for this class, I was very confused at first when I logged in but now Iā€™m getting the hang of it. If I was in the zoom call I would have asked about the assignment that was due and where to upload it and I would have asked how to view my grades, also I would have totally used zoom emoji. I never knew we could do that, so thatā€™s another thing I discovered. One thing I found really interesting and what stuck on my mind during the reading was when you said ā€œWords themselves have no power in of themselves without the power that people as a community assign to them.ā€ I found this very interesting because nowadays people use these racial slurs to degrade people, specifically people of color and they use these disgusting words to make themselves feel ā€œhigherā€ and more ā€œsuperiorā€ to them. They give these words a lot of power and use them against a specific type of person or group. Personally, I found the reading very interesting and I enjoyed the meaning behind it. I also enjoyed the conversations you had with the students and I hope I get to make it to your next zoom call.

After reading Between the World and Me by Ta Nehisi-Coates I had a reinforcement of what I defined as a race. According to the dictionary, the definition of race is a grouping of humans defined by physical or social qualities. I agree with this definition I think that race is a group of people who come from a place of the world that embraces a specific culture. However, I strongly believe that race and education go hand in hand itā€™s important to learn about other backgrounds not only for the purpose of understanding but to avoid any conflict due to mixed opinions. Since as long as modern civilization has become prominent humans have clashed with each other due to a difference in opinion. Something that still goes on till this day and is referenced in the text Between the World and Me Coates references the black lives matter movement in particular deaths that have impacted the movement, for example, Coates referencesĀ  Eric Garner a man who died at the hands of white officers for selling cigarettes without a license. The cops were using excessive force for such a nonviolent crime. What makes the situation terrible is Garner’s death was the cause of an underlying issue which is racism. Coates has a perfect line that resonates with the situationĀ  ā€œ sell cigarettes without proper authority and your body can be destroyedā€™ā€™ referencing that just because of the color of one’s skin you could potentially be killed.

Written language is an inferior spoken language for a simple reason when something is written it can be interpreted by the reader in any which way the reader may want to interpret it. However, when something is spoken out loud you can see the facial reactions you can hear the person’s tone. Just facial reactions and tone of voice can indicate how the person is using words. A perfect example would be from the text by Gloria Naylor where she talks about how she first realized the power of the n-word and how itā€™s double-sided when someone outside of black people the word can be harmful but when a black person uses it losses its negative power

Ā I want to use the song ā€œSilenceā€ By Marshmello Ft. Khalid. From what I realized this tune was exceptionally famous for a month or so as most melodies that come out from understanding craftsmen don’t in every case keep going long. I pick a tune explicitly on the grounds that I’m an individual who cherishes continually tuning in however yet the music separates me from everybody along these lines turning out to be (as the melody states) one with the quiet. The incongruity in the melody likewise interests me for saying “in one with the quietness” while in a tune utilized for the sole reason for the quietness. In any case, at that point the idea entered my thoughts that quiet may not exclusively be the nonattendance of sound yet in addition the condition of just being distant from everyone else. There’s a truism of being separated from everyone else in a jam-packed room and in a similar sense somebody can grasp quietness set up loaded up with clamor which leaves space for opposing the significance of the words.

Ā

I wanted to start off my summary of the zoom call by apologizing for not showing up to the first zoom call. On CUNY first, I didn’t show what day our class started, and at the time of sending the email when the class would start, I was at work. However, moving forward I am ready to work and learn. But on to the summary of the zoom call in the zoom call, you introduced yourself inside of a car which ironically where Iā€™m writing this and you broke down what the class would be like and answered basic first-day questions such as if you were flexible with your late assignments. Another important question asked was your zoom hours/ office hours. Finally, towards the end of the class, you started to read a really good piece on someone who had first listened to someone using theĀ  N-word for the first time as a class then proceeded to break down the text even further. the text is ā€œA Wordā€™s Meaning Can Often Depend on Who Says Itā€ by Gloria Naylor after the zoom call I felt a lot more comfortable with the idea of starting new in college
