Before getting trained for any job location at Walt Disney, everyone must attend “Traditions” so we can get a better understanding of its culture and principles. It has been 46 years since Disney World opened, but they have always upheld their traditions.
In the article, “Create company loyalty with new-hire practices” by Tasha Freidein, has similar hire practices and orientation compared to Walt Disney World. Disney provides company new hire practices called “Traditions.” It is mandatory that every new hire cast member attends or they would not be able to “perform on stage,” or work at their locations. The coordinators at traditions talked a lot about integrity and the four keys, and how important it is for us to do while “on stage.” Those four keys in order of importance are Safety, Courtesy, Show, and Efficiency. Disney follows those guidelines to ensure that guests are in a “Magical Place,” where everyone is happy and excited, so it’s up to us to run the show without having guests to worry about anything going wrong. In the article by Tasha Freidein, both companies have similar goals, and that is providing exceptional guest services. It’s important because their experience can become a big part of the company’s brand. One way to improve the guest experience is turning a transaction into an interaction. Using this method helps improves guest interaction because you are engaging in a conversation with them. Overall, traditions help me got a better understanding of Disney Culture.
Overall, traditions help me got a better understanding of Disney Culture. Disney is a huge brand and is known all around the world. That why every cast member must attend tradition every year so it can maintain the company brand and image.
I like the concept of turning a transaction into an interaction. That helps make your position more important and leads into your ability to live brand making.
