“80s Design is Alive, Well, and Living in 2019” by Nadja Sayej, published in PRINT, March 6, 2019

The first poster is a 1980s movie poster for Jaws. We can find some similarities between what the article is discussing. This poster makes use of retro, bold typography. The poster also used amazing visuals to get people’s attention, as well as grids for simplicity and a clean look. The image is well focused in the center, and the large title “JAWS” is also in the center, in a different color and bolder than the other text.

The second poster is a 2018 poster of The Meg that has a similar feeling to the first. We can see how, similar to the previous image, they used a girl in the shark’s mouth. The typeface is bold and centered as well. The title “The MEG” is highlighted more than other text, as shown in the first image. Although the first image is from decades ago, we can see the similar design elements that are still used today.
