Madeleine Morley; Master László Moholy-Nagy Saw Photoshop Coming, 90 Years Ahead of Time (2019), AIGA Eye on Design, László Moholy-Nagy; Typophoto (1925): Graphic Design Theory: Readings From the Field by Helen Armstrong on pages 32-34, Jan Tschichold, “The Principles of the New Typography” 1928: Graphic Design Theory: Readings From the Field by Helen Armstrong on pages 35-38.

I think that these authors have found an asymmetrical approach in new typography more useful than a symmetrical approach and according to the authors asymmetry gives them more flexibility and it allows more diversity whereas symmetrical typography does not allow this and it revolves around the central axis. According to Jan Tschichold,’ In the old typography, the arrangement of individual units is subordinated to the principle of arranging everything on a central axis.’ he further said,’ the rigidity of central-axis setting hardly allows work to be carried out with the degree of logic we now demand’.With time things change so does the case with typography designers realize that the old method is not useful anymore hence they introduce the new typography which was a simple, essay to read as compared to some pre-20th-century gothic typography.

I think that typography and photography together can play a good role in shaping a new kind of design because we know that it’s hard to remember words but easy to remember images like comic books. I think it was both technology and industrialization that influenced the early 20th-century design, on one hand, were moving from handwritten typography to movable woodblock printing and on the other hand, we started printing in bulk for newspapers, advertisements, and posters.
