Equipment Breakdown Risk Engineer Trainee – Loss Control

Chubb Corporation

New York, New York

Dear Hiring Manager,

While I was browsing the internet earlier looking for a job position, I came across your website and I noticed that you guys were recruiting applicant for the EBRE trainee position. After learning about the opportunities at the Chubb Corporation, my interest in this position has expanded greatly. I am aware that this company is the twelfth largest in the United States along with nationwide networking. Though I have not worked for a company as unique, I have significant experience at other organizations that parallels that which is required at Chubb Corporation

Being a part of student government, I noticed that there was a lack of communication between the nineteen members because some members have different schedules, while the other members do not check their email frequently; however, my friends and I did a little research and came up with the idea of using an app called “WhatsApp.” Consequently, communications between all the members have increase to ninety nine percent.

I am happy regarding being possible a part of this unique company; I would welcome the opportunity to meet with you to further discuss the values that I can bring to the Chubb Corporation. Thank you for your time and effort, and I appreciate your consideration.

My major is electrical engineering, and in the field that I am pursuing, I believe that what my employers are looking for is people with an associate, bachelor or master degree in engineering, or electrical engineering. My main qualification is an associate degree that I have earned in engineering from another college which gave me a lot of knowledge on what engineering is. My strength will be from classes that I have taken before, for example circuit analysis which taught me the way electricity flows, and what is required to make it happen; this class also taught me how the light works, for instance, if the light wires are connected in series, then if one light goes off, the other lights will also; on the other hand, if the lights are connected in parallel, then if one light goes off, the rest will stay on. One of my skills is learning a task very fast, especially something that I like. I am very good at technology, so anything that requires using technology, I believe I will grasp very fast. The type of position that I am currently seeking is an entry level position so that I can learn everything from the bottom and work my way up. My professional goal is help create something new that will either save several lives or improve the way people live; secondly I want to be one of the leaders in whatever company that I am working for; the type of work that I am mostly interested in is field work because I find that to be more fun, or, half of my time in the field and the other half using a computer software, but I don’t want to sit at a table all day looking at a computer.

The qualifications and skills that are most desirable in engineering is someone with experience, which is sadly one of my weaknesses because I haven’t had an engineering job before. In addition, someone who went to a trade school will also have an advantage when applying. Furthermore, earning an associate degree or better is most desirable. Several of the position that I visited on job posting websites require over three years of field experience and either a bachelor or a master degree in engineering. Because of that requirement, it is kind of difficult for me to find a job in engineering. Some of the title of these jobs are called operating engineer, automotive technician, electric field engineer, electric system engineer, and security analysis. Some of the organizations that are currently hiring are Con Edison, MTA, Major Chryster Dealership, Occidental Petroleum, Liebert Services and Turner Construction.  The kind of content-specific skills that these companies are looking for are people who have the ability to coordinate, design and built moderate to large projects dealing with electrical distribution system, able to layout electrical system using AutoCAD, and have experience with electrical load calculation; moreover, companies are seeking people with good working knowledge of SAP, rectifiers, NERC and SERC regulations. Also, recruiters are looking for people that are technical expert in electrical system. Verbal communication is best needed at these companies. I believe that my education and the hands-on experience here at City Tech will help me be prepared for these employers’ need because even though this is my second semester here at City Tech, I have spoken to one of the professors from the electrical engineering department and he told me that the equipment and the machines that companies such as Verizon, MTA, and Con Edison are using is the exact same thing that we are using in the lab, which I believe is one of the best hands-on experience.

About Winston Aitken

Good night everyone, my name is Winston Aitken and my major is Electrical Engineering in Technology. This is my second semester in this school, so I don’t have a lot of experience at city tech yet because I only had two classes last semester. I am currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree. I like to play and watch soccer and another sport called cricket. I also like listening to reggae music. My favorite band is called Chronixx and the Zinc Fence. Last summer, I visited the Statue of Liberty, and a few weeks ago, I went ice skating for the first time. I had a lot of fun. My plans for this summer is to go somewhere that I never been before, maybe Last Vegas.

As a writer, I will say my strength is good grammar and punctuations. Secondly, I think most people find my writing to be interesting because I try to make it genuine and fun; on the other hand, my weakness is writing too much, for example five pages, because I run out of ideas sometimes. I enjoy writing about something interesting, or entertaining because I will have a lot of ideas on that topic I can expressed. Even though I am more of a math person, I do not dislike anything about writing, except for writing several pages about something that is uneventful. I have a firm background in technology. It doesn’t take me a long time to understand technology. My sense of technical writing was that this class will be doing most our writing using computers. In addition, we might be doing some kind of hybrid discussion on blackboard. My expectation for this class is exactly what the course description states which is to develop enough knowledge, skills and processes that will be necessary to create different types of documents under constraints that I will need in the future, and participate in “intellectual life” of this class, which will make me even more prepared to go into the professional workforce
