On our OpenLab site post a message or ā€œtime capsuleā€ to your end-of-the-semester self. This time capsule should include a message or letter to your end-of-the semester self about your current goals and hopes for the semester and/or full year, and should consider at least one challenge you feel you might be up against. This is called a “time capsule post” because you will use this post again at the end of the semester in December.

  1. To write your time capsule, consider some or all of theĀ following questions to guide you:
  • What will success and/or satisfaction this semester look like for you personally? Describe who you will be as a successful student in December! You can compare that to who you are now.
  • What would give you a sense of purpose or value for your first semester of college? In other words, what would make the semester feel like time well spent?
  • What actions can you take now, this semester, to achieve your goals or sense of purpose?
  • What challenges might you be up against right now? Include at least one.
  1. Add a visual image for your time capsule. This can be a picture of yourself or an image that represents something you like or hope to achieve. Give a brief explanation to your future end-of-the-semester self, explaining what this image means to you right now.
  2. For instructions on how to make an OpenLab post, go here (Instructions forthcoming!)
  3. This capsule Ā is due on the OpenLab any time before 10 am on Tuesday, September 8.

Keep in mind as you write that this OpenLab post will be visible to others in the class. It is not ā€œgraded,ā€ but it is required for your attendance credit for session 4, Ā Sept. 8.
