Maurine: Project Proposal Unit 3

What I hope to teach my audience the importance of bipolar disorder and to understand their condition. The audience I’m trying to reach are families who have someone with bipolar disorder and don’t know what it is. The genre that I might be planning to write is a brochure.  I intend to start this by looking at effective brochures examples.

One quote I found in my research for Unit 2 that inspired me the most is Source 1″Reducing the impact of BD(bipolar disorder) on a person’s functioning is critical to improving that person’s well-being.” This quote inspired me the most because bipolar disorder impacts your life socially, physically, and mentally. Treating bipolar disorder can regain a person’s life back.

Maurine’s project is going to explore the brochure genre. The targeted audience will be family members of those with bipolar disorder. I think this is the right audience because people would want to know what their loved ones are going through and how they can get closer to them and help. I think someone who is struggling with bipolar disorder may also be interested in the brochure. Maurine’s message is trying to convey the importance and meaning of bipolar disorder. She also wants people to know about the effects it has on a patient’s life and that treatment makes things better. The highlighted quote says that minimizing the effect that bipolar disorder has on the way a person behaves plays a pivotal role in making them better. I think the quote means that with treatment, people suffering from bipolar disorder will start the process of regaining control of their lives. This relates to the project because it tells the reader that treatment is an important solution.

Maurine, a brochure seems like a great way to think about getting the information you’ve found to those who need it, families with loved ones struggling with bipolar disorder. You can think about how you might organize this brochure or add visuals in addition to arranging the information you’ve already researched.
