Today you will consider the audience for your Unit 3 project on the Discussion Board. On the discussion board, think about who your audience is for the research you completed in the Annotated Bibliography. Who needs to know what you are researching? And, how can you best address them?
Start here: your audience. Who needs to know about your research? For example, how is Black Lives Matter, COVID-19 research, or ways the environment is being put at risk? (I’m drawing on ideas from Unit 2 research completed in both of my ENG 1101 classes in this list.) Be specific. Do not simply state everyone or anyone. To answer this, consider any of the following as a starting point for brainstorming:
- Why are you interested in this subject and is there someone in your same group who might be interested?
- How did you get interested in this subject? Did anyone else get interested with you? Did something happen to create your interest?
- What are the long-term effects of what you are discovering? How might this appear ten years from now? Is there a group that might be affected more than others?
- Is the research questions entertaining, informative, or investigative? If it is, who do you want to receive your entertainment, information, or results?
- Who introduced you to this topic and how did that person engage your interest? Was this person a role model in some way? Who might you be a role model for if you offer this information?
Session 21: DISCUSSION BOARD INSTRUCTIONS
Two Paragraphs:
- Write at least one paragraph that clearly states what your research topic is and who your audience may be.( And no, you can’t change your topic at this point! Use the topic you chose to research in Unit 2)
- Follow that with another short paragraph of 1-2 sentences that responds to the person who went on the discussion board before you. Who do you think might be interested in their topic? Help your peers out!
