Throughout this course, you will be posting on our OpenLab site as well as responding on our OpenLab Discussion Board.

When you make a post on the OpenLab site, it is like when you post  on your own page on Facebook. The most recent post is at the top. As other students post, the most recent will appear. The text you are reading right now is a “post.”

When you respond to a discussion or “thread” on the Discussion Board, your answer will appear at the bottom of the thread. This is similar to commenting on someone else’s page on Facebook. Your instructor will post a thread and you will respond to that thread.  The Discussion Board is on the course Profile Page. You will also receive a link on the To-Do list leading you directly to the thread.

Note: Our Discussion Board threads will have a due date and time. After that time, the Discussion Board will close. You will not be able to participate and get credit for that activity, so be sure to respond before the deadline. Before the deadline, you will be able to edit, delete, or add another response. You can also respond to other students’ responses on the board.

You will get instructions about what to post for each assignment, such as the Discussion Board assignment on our first TO-DO list.  But read the article about Online Discussions for tips on effective use of discussion boards. This will prove useful for this class as well as your other courses.
