BUF 2203- Visual Merchandising

Course Description:

In this course, I explore visual merchandising by analyzing how products are presented in retail settings. I investigate how elements like lighting, fixtures, and product placement are used to convey brand messages and influence consumers. Throughout the course, I delve into topics such as creating store displays, designing visuals for walls and windows, and understanding how color, music, and lighting impact consumer behavior.

As for the learning outcomes, I aim to analyze the psychological effects of design elements on consumers, apply design principles to visual displays, evaluate different types of displays for their effectiveness, compare contemporary art with window displays, and practice writing press releases for designers.

Regarding general education outcomes, I’ll strive to recognize how business is influenced by social and cultural fashion trends, derive meaning from my experiences and observations, and grasp the importance and appropriate use of portfolio development.
