BUF 3310: Contemporary Designers and Luxury Markets

Course Description:

In this course, I dive into the aesthetics of major fashion designers across the 19th to the 21st centuries, analyzing museum clothing collections in lectures and study sessions. I explored how historic fashion influences apply to contemporary and future apparel.

I aim to integrate past designers’ styles with current fashion trends, effectively discuss differences in styling across various time periods, and use critical thinking to analyze and compare selected designers. I’ll also demonstrate my understanding of their key aesthetic and style contributions.

Regarding general education learning outcomes, I’ll strive to locate, interpret, and critically analyze historical research resources. I’ll also work on deriving solutions through visual communication and perception, synthesizing information to better understand culture, and building knowledge through class discussions, research projects, and examinations.
