Live Well Session Two

This nutrition post couldn’t have came at a better time. About a month ago, I got food poisoning over a weekend and I think it was from some under cooked meat. I think this was a reset for my eating habits. Since then, I really started to cut meat out of my diet or if I do eat meat, I cook/order it well done. I’ve started to try to include vegetables in every meal I eat and started to eat a lot more eggs especially for breakfast. I’ve cut out a lot of sugars from my diet and started to eat more fruits and nuts, especially pistachios. I’ve also started to walk my dog in the morning daily for at least 30 minutes instead of waiting for my brother to do it later.

I always start well with my food, picking fruit and vegetables over starch and junk food. I realized that although I start well,  I end  up having iced caramel macchiato, it’s so hard to resist. I don’t feel too bad about it since overall I am eating a lot better and do have regular exercises. In order to have more fruits on the go, I get strawberry pineapple smoothies in water. I’ve always try to choose healthier alternatives and cook my own meals, it’s something my mother instilled in me over the years.

Incorporating 4 cups of vegetables into my diet has not been easy. I am definitely trying my best and will continue doing so. In relation to exercising and managing stress, I am hoping to be at the maintenance stage by the end of the semester. Good luck to everyone!

LiveWell Session 2

I realized that from the first session I feel behind I did not meet my goals that I set up for myself. I started off good eating and exercising more and I even went on a diet and reached a weight that I was somewhat comfortable with, but I haven’t been maintaining my regular exercise and nutrition after that. I am beginning to do so now and that is because I noticed that I work better when the weather is nice out, because it motivates me. I enjoy running in the park apart from not having any time for myself I rather be running in a park than going to a gym. I noticed that in this session I am doing very well in the stress management side all I have to work on is the nutrition and exercise portion.

Live Well Session II

I can honestly say this session has been much easier than I thought it would be. In the last month I’ve eaten out a lot less and have been cooking my own meals more. I can say honestly I’ve noticed a change in myself. I feel less sluggish and actually know what I’m eating since I’m cooking the meals myself. Additionally I’m making the conscious effort to incorporate more vegetables and fruits into my diet. One month down a lifetime to go 🙂

I did the nutrition session and not meeting the standards of how much calories I have to consumed per day, my diet is very simple and as a Ecuadorian we don’t eat too much vegetables. I tried to incorporated vegetables 2 to 3 times per week so my family and I can start changing the way we eat. I love the fact that this website has different resources that I can use to learn different ways to eat and cook vegetables. I love it, so I’m trying my best. I try to eat fruits almost everyday so in that part I don’t have problems. So far I love the way how live Well push me to change to do better with my life.

I am still trying to reach maintenance level in almost every category. I walk a lot more than before and balance my meal as much as i can. But sometimes when choice is given between 8oz steak and salad, i choice 8oz steak salad and leave vegetable for perpetual tomorrow . on other hand its a lot faster to get some vegetable and fruits as snacks versus 8oz steak.

Live Well Session 2

After completing the 2nd Live Well session, I have noticed that I still do not consume enough greens and fruits on a daily basis. I have tried to help to change that by purchasing more fruits on the weekends and bringing them to work with me to eat as a snack or with my lunch. Also, I have begun to prioritize a bit more with my school assignments and save money in order to help deal with financial and school related stress. So far, it does help to pick apart a large task and complete it in smaller subsections rather than look at it as a whole.

i move from preparation to action.  I still exercise regularly and I eat healthier.  I have to spend more time weekly to exercise.   my biggest challenge is my confidence.  I  do not keep up with my routine exercise, I still can commit to exercising 3 to 4 times weekly.  my ultimate goal is to be fit so, I can improve my health.  I am still struggling with my stress issues, now I have tools how to manage my stress.  Every time, I am stress about something I am more likely to turn to sweets.  I need to take more control over stress.

Shift work meal

Working a 16 hour shift and being ready to respond to any emergency at all times without preset food break can cause havoc to ones diet. Luckily I have adopted and bring protein shakes, yogurt and fruit to every shift. This way I can either chug it down quickly or leave the remainder in the shaker cup in the truck and return to it post call.
