This spring, the ASCE Met Section will be awarding $5,000 scholarships. Recipients must be active ASCE student chapter members or high school seniors enrolled in an accredited civil engineering program. Students must attend (or be registered to attend) a college in the Met Section (NYC, Long Island, and the Lower Hudson Valley) or be the child of a Met Section member. Summer 2019 Research Opportunity at Vanderbilt University

Applications for the summer 2019 are now being accepted for NSF REU program in Nanoscience and Nanoengineering at Vanderbilt University. The application deadline is February 15th The Vanderbilt Institute for Nanoscale Science and Engineering (VINSE) focuses on interdisciplinary nanoscale research at the interface of chemistry, physics, biology and engineering. More than 40 faculty participants from the School of Engineering, College of Arts and Science, and the School of Medicine inspire students by creating an atmosphere of excitement and creativity. Each REU participant will work directly with VINSE faculty members and their research groups and be part of the larger VINSE community.
The VINSE REU has a record of success, 70% of former VINSE NSF REU students attend graduate school and have received several awards and honors including:
·        13 NSFGraduate Research Fellowships (another 7 received honorable mentions)
·        6 Goldwater Fellowships
·        1 Gates Cambridge Fellowship
·        1 NASA Graduate Fellowship
·        3 NIH Awards: 1 Graduate Fellowship, 1 Postbac ITRA, 1 Oxford-Cambridge Scholar
·        >40% of former REU students have (or are expected to) co-author a journal publication

2019 Hunter Roberts Internship Program

Qualifications Needed:
Must be enrolled as an undergraduate rising Junior/Senior in an accredited College or University effective fall 2019-Engineering/Construction Manager majors are preferred

 About the Program:

Duration of program: June 3rd-August 23rd.

Interviews will be conducted on January 4th, 7th and 10th.

Goals of this Internship Program:

  • Build a talent pipeline of future construction professionals to HRCG
  • Provide a hands-on learning and networking experience to students interested in a career in construction
  • Provide opportunities to develop leadership and management skills to those who will supervise an intern this summer
