The mission of the Department of Mechanical Engineering Technology at New York City
College of Technology is to educate students for careers in the fields of Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering Technology and Industrial/Product Design. We balance practical knowledge with theory, emphasizing hands-on applications of the latest technology. The department provides education to both traditional and non-traditional students of diverse backgrounds for successful entry into the industry.

Through excellence in teaching and community service, the department promotes opportunities for scholarly, personal, and professional growth. Graduates will be prepared to support the diverse needs of industry in the metropolitan New York area. In the Mechanical Engineering Technology Program, our focus is on the following areas: materials testing, manufacturing,
computer-aided drafting/design, machine/mechanical design/analysis, quality assurance, and in specifying, installing, testing, or maintaining mechanical systems. We provide the fundamental concepts and technical skills required for students to create a wide range of career paths in the manufacturing and mechanical engineering technology profession.
