Part 2 Summary

Covid is a tragic pandemic that no one expected, it caused many casualties, many people lost their job, school closing, everyone was somehow affected. As a student I can tell how much Covid has affected schools. School is virtual for many months and because we were not familiar to this method of learning it academically affected a lot of us. This video is evidence of how covid academically affected students. Even with the materials provided to those in need during the school year such as laptop, etc. In this video Joe Gothard states the greatest challenge is for student to access learning, because they are not in the school building there is a lack of mental and academic support which is why there has been a suicide rate. In the video they not only discuss about the challenges how covid affected the students they also mentioned the support they are able to give students such as creating virtual break rooms to mentally help them, having students hours to academically help students and give social support by having discussions between peers and teachers. Dr Hannah explained how students can be stressed and feeling disconnected that makes students can’t stay on track with their schools so the Manny decisions introduced could really help students during those difficult times. Now days covid cases is decreasing but many of us still live in fear which explain why many students still want to take online classes. I personally believe that as time goes by teachers are finding more ways to help students and families in need whether it is academic. Mental or social so they can stay hopeful during the pandemic.

Part #3 Reflection

I agree with the information they shared in the video. As an immigrant student who didn’t have any experience with virtual learning, I was so stressed and had struggle with login and Upload assignments. I like the facts when the reporter asked Joe and Dr Hannah questions and they just answer with interesting answer that made you keep listening they talking about in the video. When the schools open in person I hope students won’t be stressed the way they are. So they won’t have only to focus their grade but they will focus on what teachers teach them.

Part 3b Rhetorical/ Genre Analysis

I think the genre is informative because that video they informed you how covid affected education. They informed you how the student struggled in the beginning of the virtual learning but they adapted in that new trend to keep educate themselves through the virtual learning.
