Jubedel Andon Personal Profile

Hello, my name is Jubedel Andon, I arrived to City Tech with the aspiration to become a chef. I am currently working as a server in an American Diner and I have been working here for approximately three years and have obtained experience in this fast-pace industry. With this experience, I have gained the knowledge and skills to manage a restaurant or oversee a kitchen. Therefore, I enrolled in the Hospitality management program because I am seeking to focus on the culinary and pastry side of the industry. I have a good memory from working at a diner for several years and I love the pressure given in this industry and for these reasons I believe I can strive. In the future I plan to a handful of experience under my belt. I want to get as involved as I can and I am very grateful to be in the Hospitality Management here at City Tech. From word of mouth I was informed that there has been many over achievers from the Hospitality department and I hope to partake in the Hospitality departments success.

Ambar Ubiera- Peer Mentor

Hello my name is ambar ubiera, I’m currently a senior at City Tech majoring in hospitality management. I will be working alongside professor Goodlad and Professor Stewart as a peer mentor, part of the first year learning community. I feel like this will be a great opportunity to introduce everyone in this class to the many opprtunities available for every student majoring in hospitality. I have taken advantage of many opportunties myself, such as the DIsney College Program and The Thomas Ahrens International Study Abroad Program. these both have been amazing experiences that have helped me grow personally and professionally which also have benefited me tremendously and have allowed me to meet people from different parts of the world. I am also involved in volunteering opportunities and extracurricular activities such as being the treasurer of the American Culinary Federation (ACF) student club during my junior year and now have transitioned to be the president of said student club. I am very excited to be part of the peer mentor program and work with the students as well as our wonderful professors to assist and encourage everyone to take part of these opportunities being offered because they will have a positive impact in your personal and professional life. I am looking forward to meeting everyone.

Our Stories, Post by September 7th

We invite you to tell a story about your first few weeks at City Tech. Research has shown that first-semester students often worry about their transition in to college and how eventually students become comfortable and find a community of people with whom they are close and feel they belong.

Please describe in a short story how you have experienced your first few weeks at City Tech. Aim to write 300-500 words and be sure to illustrate your post with examples from your own experiences in classes, seminars, lectures, study groups, and labs. What happened? How did you and others involved think and feel? How did it turn out?

We hope this process will help you think about your transition experience. This link will take to the place to create your post: Our Stories. Once you have finished writing your post, choose the category “Goodlad/Stewart” and thenplease take time to read and comment on at least two of your peer’s stories.
