Sep 1, 2021 : Free Write – Elementary school, early day memories.
Ah the good old days, back when we had to worry about nothing but live our listless lives. Or wish that was the case. In my early days things were normal. I was around 9 years old, mom had just woken me up to get early to go to school. It was a brisk and bright ealy dawn. You could see the little rays of light coming from the sheets of steel we had as roofs. You could hear the roosters doing their usual morning speech to signal the rise of the day, as well as the chained dogs telling them to shut up. Haha. Shortly after getting myself ready I looked over to see my younger brother’s bed empty as he had left me to fly to a new land. That land is the so-called “Los Estados Unidos.” (The United States), and here I’m patiently waiting my turn to also take flight on the back of the big silver bird that takes you across the ocean and into the land of the united. [Continued, for sure needs better story telling and rewriting  but its a good basis for a story about my upbringing and how things turned out.]

How to Read Like a Writer: Personal Summary

The piece of literature “How to Read Like a Writer” by Mike Bunn, starts us off by painting the picture with his early days as a theater usher. During his work in the theater as an usher, Bunn would spend his free time reading pieces of literature in the back of the theater house. (House is a term used to describe the guest sitting area.) Here he says “~~flashlight or no flashlight~~and it’s even tougher with shrieks and shouts and gunshots coming from the stage.” This led to him carefully analyzing and rereading sentences and words to make sure he fully understood what was going on. Bunn from there tells us that “.. as I began to realize that the way I was reading—one word at a time—was exactly the same way that the author had written the text. ” Here he explains that by struggling to read and having to focus more on each sentence and word’s meaning, to make sure the story is comprehensible. He learns through this experience that writing is a slow process that can be meticulously put together to create a very rewarding reading experience.
Here now we go into detail what exactly Bunn means when you “Read Like a Writer(RLW).” [Still Writing\
