The lottery by Shirley Jackson is about a village that comes together in June to participate in the lottery and it is a small town. Before the lottery is about to start Mr. summers reads the rules of the lottery but some of the families don’t pay attention because they already know the rules but after everyone has taken a slip for the lottery. After the lottery, the people of the town try to figure out who has won the lottery and the people think the Hutchinsons have won and Tessie says that the lottery result is not fair, claiming that Mr. Summers did not give her husband enough time to draw the slip he wanted. Everyone scolds Tessie for the outburst, telling her to “be a good sport.” Then Mr. graves put 5 more slips to make it fairer but Tessie screams, “It isn’t fair, It isn’t right.” After not winning.
